In female Masculinity by Judith Halberstam she discusses the "bathroom problem" which many "butch women" encounter. She talks about her friends experiences with women's reactions when they have entered the washroom. Is this a reactionary tendency pushed by society  or is this our own doing? Certainly the level of violence is a chosen road by troubled individuals however are simple glances and disapproval "normal" reactions that women feel pressured to give or, even worse, don't even realize they are giving?
